Argentum – Store review

Cooped up inside one of Bandra’s bylane, Argentum is a destination for all those who take their earrings a little too seriously. A store that mainly dabbles with semi-precious couture jewellery, stocks on everything from bracelets, neck pieces to bangles, but the earrings here are outstanding and like no other place in the city.

The store isn’t too big and doesn’t have several options, but the limited range of jewellery manages to offer something for everyone. Whether you are someone who likes dainty jewellery or even if you are high on bling, Argentum has at least a dozen pieces for each kind of buyer.

We visited the store on a cold rainy day but the warm approach of owner Rishi Pherwani was good enough to get us into the mood for some heavy-duty shopping. The afternoon began with a hot cup of green tea, followed by a tour of the store and ended into, there are no prizes for guessing – jewellery shopping!

To begin with, Argentum stocks on jewellery priced between Rs 2000 to Rs 35,000. Most of their pieces are made using silver and semi-precious stones and each item is hand-crafted as against machine-made stuff available at other stores in the city.

We specially liked the place for their massive collection of earrings, spreading across delicate everyday stuff to glamorous hoops, chandelier, drip earrings, studs and others.

Apart from earrings, Argentum also stocks on hand gear and cocktail rings that are as interesting, but the stock is limited to a handful of artistisnal pieces.

What’s more? On buying, the attendant packs up your pick in a box that is adhesive-free. This ensures that your jewellery stays as in and doesn’t darken, which is generally the case with silver items.

All in all, Argentum offers a wholesome shopping experience for a woman who loves to bedazzle.
