Making a splash this summer- new pair of sunglasses

That it is summer is evident everywhere. It’s on the catalogues of Gucci, Pucci, Moschino and Valentino. It’s on the menus of restaurants flashing super summer time feasts. It’s showing with the amount of humidity in my hair and it’s obvious from the ladies sporting lovely sundresses across streets in my city.

But it only got official the day I got my new pair of sunglasses. After all, what’s a summer without a pair of shades?

Esprit sunglasses

The topic of discussion today is this new pair of Esprit sunglasses that we picked up from Pearl Enterprise. Though the company is largely  an importer for some of the most renowned eyewear brands in the world, we worked our charm and got just this one pair. Black, cat-rimmed, leopard-skin printed and gorgeous!!

The glasses suit perfectly on a face that has super high cheek bones à la Cameron Diaz. The black is stark but has full coverage and helps  you chase the rays just right. The fit is quite unshakable and glides conveniently too. What we like the most is the touch of tan and brown animal skin that throws out the monotony and brings in adventure.

Here is the look we put together using these…..

Our summer look

A black and white sundress that is ideal to beat the summer’s heat. In order to bring out the brown in these shades better, we accessorized the dress with all things tan. Since the shoes are peep toes, they are perfect to show-off a summery pedicure and the bag and earrings complete the entire look.

So what would your ideal summer accessory be?

PS: Since we are obsessed with leopard pints, we are now eyeing Pearl Enterprise’s new optical collection that has some gorgeous daily wear glasses too. Here is what we love!

How would you wear your Lavie?

My introduction to Lavie handbags was through the television commercial featuring Kareena Kapoor. It instantly struck a chord. Since then, I’ve always wanted one. The new collection offers an amazing choice. And I have my eyes set on the one featured below. I’ve already decided how I’m going to wear it.

If your handbag was as coveted, wouldn’t you want it to be the ‘hero’ piece? I’d bring out the scarlet with my lips and necklace and go black and white with the outfit. What do you think?

Wearing Elle to the Allen Solly & Vogue School Of Style

Alice wandering…

Phew! That’s a lot of brand names in the title. As my sister likes to put it, I’m a ‘prankster’. So I wore my newest Elle dress to the Allen Solly & Vogue ‘School Of Style’. It’s a different print for me yet within my realm.

Do you think our looks work? Apart from the fact that I need to lose weight (just being honest), did I do okay?

As I wander away, I have to mention how excited I am for the first Elle FashionWear bloggers’ meet. I have to dress for a ‘mid-day in Paris’ and I’m looking for inspiration. Feel free to throw ideas at me. Thanks!

Kareena Kapoor in Tom Ford at her book launch

I’m still trying to get some clarity on this. I thought Rochelle Pinto wrote the book titled Kareena Kapoor – The Style Diary Of A Bollywood Diva but the Internet has various versions of who wrote it. Anyway, both Kareena and Rochelle looked great at the book launch. Kareena’s picture landed in my inbox. She wore Tom Ford. You like?

Also, what do you think of the hair and make-up? I love how sleek the hair is and I’m a sucker for red lips anyway. I think she carries it off really well.

Skechers’ Spring/Summer ’13 Showcase

One of the interesting things about being a blogger is that you get invited to various showcases put up by international and local brands and get to learn so much more (than an average consumer) about a product you’re gonna buy. Needless to say, I was very intrigued when I was invited for Skechers’ Spring Summer ’13 showcase.

Surprisingly, Skechers is a fairly young brand (just about 20 years old). The company primarily produced lifestyle shoes but has now branched out into performance and sport shoes as well. We got a peek at the best shoes across all 3 categories.

And I learnt some really interesting things. Like, some styles have a completely flexible sole. You can actually fold the shoe completely, carry it with you and when you retrieve it, it will take its original shape. Cool, right? Certain styles have a memory foam sole. Heard of the memory foam mattress? Yep, same concept. The sole takes the shape of your foot and returns to its original form when not worn. I was impressed. Most of the styles have a mid-foot strike as opposed to a heel strike. So when you walk, run or exercise, the weight of your foot strikes the middle of the shoe, giving you a better grip and balance. Who knew?

This particular one above is my favourite shoe from the Skechers’ SS ’13 collection. Have you realised we most often buy ‘sport shoes’ in a white or grey colour? Why do we do that? So, I picked this black one. I like the pink accents. And they’re super comfy when you wear them. Also, the price point is great, only Rs 2999. Not a bad investment I say.

Which style is your favourite? Maybe I can tell you an interesting fact or two about it.
