I was thrilled to receive this email: “Get ready to be transported to the ‘Golden Era’ of Hindi Cinema! Zee Classic’s ‘The Classic Cut’ Film Festival brings to you 4 evergreen films of Indian Cinema – SHOLAY, DEEWAR, KARZ & SEETA AUR GEETA at PVR theatres in Juhu from 20th to 24th April at 9PM. You are cordially invited to relive the magic of these cult movies on the big screen with friends and family.”
‘The Classic Cut’ Film Festival
For a student of cinema or a cinephile, these films would definitely top the ‘wish-to-watch-on-the-big-screen’ list. And because you all love the movies as much as I do, you get to accompany me to the screenings with a +1. All you have to do is share your favourite dialogue from the movie you wish to watch in the comments section below, on my Facebook page or at my Twitter. And I’ll get back to you with the deets.
See you at the movies!
So, on my day off yesterday, I attended the Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani trailer launch and press conference.

Have you watched the trailer yet?
I don’t know what new this film is going to offer. But it seems like a fun summer flick! I’m definitely going to watch, also because I love Ranbir Kapoor.
The press conference was fun, with a lot of journos asking questions about Ranbir-Deepika’s relationship, their tattoos, etc. Ranbir Kapoor, of course, knew the right things to say and came to everyone’s defence. Karan Johar obviously knew this was going to happen and played along, interrupting and diverting questions back to the film at the right moments.

It’s just a good outing when there’s a Ranbir sighting involved and a topping of Aditya Roy Kapur.
So, what do you think of the trailer? Doesn’t the last line serve as a good teaser? Are you excited to watch the film? Waiting to know.
10 movies release this Friday and not one excites me. 8 odd released last Friday and some were really bad. Despite that, I had a good run at the movies one week, watching one every day. Yes, folks, that’s me.
I Love Movies
It started innocently. I had missed a screening of Hugo thanks to a clash with Fatso and Jannat 2 (that I had to review). After all the lovely things people had to say about Hugo, not only was I determined to watch but also show it to my sister. So after a review of The Little Door, we landed at the PVR Cinemas’ box office to watch Hugo. To the disappointment of 7 of us, every theatre across the city was running only one show and this particular one was sold out! Not wanting to watch an 11:15 pm show at Malad (of all places) where I was bound to fall asleep, we promptly booked tickets for the next day.
The Avengers (3D)
Just when one of my accompanying friends asked if I’d watch The Avengers with him, again. I really loved The Avengers even though I had originally watched it in 2D. When folks were raving about it in 3D, I didn’t realize they meant the IMAX 3D. In any case, I went ahead with it and thus, started my week at the movies (literally).
Maybe it’s because Deepika Padukone is active on twitter only when promoting her upcoming films. Or maybe because someone told me she delivers her best performance in Cocktail. In any case, I happened to see this tweet on my timeline and I had to instantly check out the trailer.

My major interest in the film lies in the fact that Imtiaz Ali has written it. (Of course!) However, Homi Adajania has directed it, Saif Ali Khan, Dinesh Vijan and Sunil Lulla have produced it. And Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty star in it.

I like how they’re going about the publicity for the film. It started with an exclusive facebook invite to a cocktail party and has continued with a midnight launch of the trailer. Even the film’s poster resembles a Polaroid picture. You approve? What are your thoughts so far?
Ek Tha Tiger | First Look
As Ishaqzaade releases in theatres today, so does the teaser trailer of Ek Tha Tiger. At the press show of Ishaqzaade, while the teaser was playing, we were literally hooting and cheering when Salman Khan came on screen.
