All the hype and blogging about Anjaana Anjaani wasn’t enough. Else, I’d presently be watching the film. Slated for a September 24 release, it has been postponed to October 1. The reason for this is the Allahabad High Court’s pronouncement of the Ayodhya-Babri Mosque verdict on September 24.
Well, on October 1, one of the most expensive films of all time, Robot/ Enthiran shall make a gargantuan release. The film features superstar Rajnikanth and our very own global ambassador Aishwarya Rai.
The film has been in the news for various reasons. Of course, the undisclosed but known to be enormous budget is a huge reason. In addition, Rs. 10 crores are known to be spent on the ‘robot’ used in the film and the 2 dummies. In the US, at Jackson Heights Cinema in New York, a new record has been set. An entire week’s tickets were booked in advance within ten minutes of issuing.
If you live in the city of Mumbai, anything and everything that generates a buzz or makes it to the news also makes it to an Amul poster displayed on hoardings at various locations.
The Amul posters have a legacy of over 4 decades. The first one appeared in the summer of 1967 and since then has been the longest running ad campaign. It will soon make its way to the Guinness book of world records. The ‘topicals’ as they are referred to pick on anything that has made a noise. Their take on Robot is hilarious.
Tehelka too did a satirical piece on superstar Rajni’s relationship with ‘Bollywood’.
