Bar Hopping: Vinoteca by Sula

This one time, my friend Nidhi and I walked for 45 minutes in search of a bar where we could hang, talk and bitch out the boys. We had to resort to a popular bar in a 5 star hotel by the beach. Almost a year later, I heard of Vinoteca by Sula opening at Worli. I was jumping with joy. Not only are the Sula Vineyards quickly becoming my favourite weekend getaway but also we single girls in the city now have a bar to go to.

I’m not really into alcohol. When I make drinking plans, it is understood that I will be sipping on wine (white or rosé) and those accompanying me will be washing down whiskey, rum or vodka as they please. And that’s another reason Vinoteca is the perfect option for me. A selection of wines I’m way too familiar with and a variety of Spanish food. Couldn’t get better.

We sampled practically all the vegetarian food on the menu. Of course, we began our meal with the famous patatas bravas. You might remember me telling you about my friend’s love for potato wedges. A tapa of patatas bravas brought a huge smile to her face. The portion size was quite good too. We were munching on it right till the end.

Retro Art | Alive and kicking

A friend is on the marketing team for Vipul Shah’s films. Hence, I’m inevitably tagged in photos on facebook when a film from their production house is on the anvil of release. Yesterday, even my twitter timeline was flooded with images of Action Replayy. (via Akshay Kumar)

Action Replayy

I guess I don’t mind the bombardment as much because the posters are retro style. If you look closely, you can spot the words: ‘In Eastman Colour’. That’s my favourite combination.

Action Replayy

I love couples like these. We went for a second viewing of Inception yesterday. Watching it at Imax, on the biggest screen is so much fun. The boy insisted I looked retro myself. If I had to paint a picture of yesterday, it would be something like the one below.

Coming back to the posters, it has been my lifelong dream to buy my own car. And the ‘girly’ girl tag that I have been conferred with, you won’t be surprised to know it has to be a VolksWagen Beetel. (More stories on that later)

Action Replayy

One time, two single girls went looking for a bar in the city. 3 different riksha rides, 4 different places and 50 minutes later, they arrived at Gadda da Vida. It’s a nice little pub at the Hotel Novotel, Juhu. Next time, you’re stuck, that’s where you should head.

Look what drops you back home if you stay longer and a wee bit drunk.

I simply love retro art. Dinky cars find meaning in vibrant colours. Clothes are embellished with blinding tinsel. Flower power and polka dots find their way on to everything.  Bell bottomed sleeves and pants with printed scarves on hair bands are the norm. I simply <3 that era.

Sunday fun | Olive’s Ramp & Roll

If you’ve lived in the city long enough,
you run out of options on how to spend your Sunday.

I had found a comfortable sweet spot in eating waffles at Cafe Indigo
And watching a movie at the nearest multiplex.

Hence, the invite to Olive Bar & Kitchen’s Ramp & Roll
came at an apt time…

Olive Bar & Kitchen

A series of sundown evenings called ‘ramp & roll’ was kicked off…

The concept is simple.
Start your evening at 4 with a drink from the bar. Dance to the groovy beats.

As the evening proceeds and the weather cools down,
enjoy some grub in the courtyard.

What to order:

Their selection of white wine as well as the wine cocktail was nice.
A whiskey sour wasn’t too bad either.

If you’re vegetarian:
A buffet style spread serves ready and make-your-own salads.
I stuffed myself with the lavash dipped in hummus.

From the a la carte menu, we called for cottage cheese from the char grill.
Served with a cold dip, the cubes of cottage cheese just melt in your mouth.

Wandering through Olive

If you’re non-vegetarian:
You could take your pick of cold cut meats from the buffet spread.

The dessert counter had delicious chocolate tarts in particular.

Of course, no kick-off evening is complete without celebrity appearances.
& if you’re a fan of desi chick flicks (Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na and Aisha),
you’re in for a treat.

Prateik Babbar with friends

I love his t-shirt. Shall hunt out the feature I did on cartoon t-shirts and share with you guys.

Ira Dubey | AD Singh | Apeksha Chopra

She was quite casually dressed. It’s a change to see her let loose after the dramatic appearances during Aisha.

So, with that quick view, if you’re stuck next Sunday, Olive Bar & Kitchen should get your vote!
Go try it out for yourself. Clink clink. :*
