Isn’t it tricky what you should wear when you go shopping? I was headed to the Tommy Hilfiger store in Mumbai to review their spring/summer collection and hopefully, make an addition to my wardrobe.

What I wore: Flower Pot Printed Dress – Chemistry | Clutch – BlackCurrent at Bliss | Shoes – Platinum Mall, Bangkok

What I tried: I put together three different looks so you get a feel and idea of the range.

First up, it was a blue and white dress with piping on the neckline and a waist belt to match. I loved the casual avatar. The fabric is perfect for the summers, the striped pattern is classic and the silhouette comfortable. And you don’t need to break the bank to own it, it’s aptly priced.

It’s about what you wear to the derby

I spent Sunday at the races. There was some great fashion on display and the sheer energy of the place made the hour and a half long wait to get in worthwhile. As fun as it was, it was also a nostalgic event. I remembered going to the derby years ago with my dad. In between races, they would a play a segment on derby dressing on the screen. I was enamoured. Little did I know then, I would be up on the screen this year dishing out tips on how to put together a look for the derby.

Take a look:

In case you were wondering what I finally wore to the derby, I’m sharing some pictures.

What we wore to the garage sale: From the Rabbit Hole

Bows on my back

Photograph: Himani Shah

Veiled headband – New Look, Brighton, UK | Dress – FCUK, Mumbai | Ring – Bought at garage sale | Shoes – Bangkok, Thailand

I made three trips to FCUK before I picked up this dress. Even then I wasn’t sure. I finally came home and showed it to the sister. She instantly remarked, ‘It’s so Mad Men! You look like Christina Hendricks.’ I was flattered and ready to flaunt my curves. Since the sister and I have been ODing on Mad Men, I channeled a ‘vintage look’ to the garage sale. I love to wear this veiled headband and keep looking for an appropriate occasion. I’m glad I wore it then. I was so happy to receive everyone’s compliments. :D

The sister went vintage too. She’s actually wearing a dress that was once mine. She got it fitted and made it her own. Clearly, she loves hearts too. :*

A little festive spirit: Christmas and the colour green

Like I tweeted earlier, Christmas happens to be a big birthday shout out to my Santa Claus: dad. It’s appropriate then that Santa Claus is actually Father Noel.

When we were younger, we had a Christmas tree, decorated it with ornaments, wore festive hats and had a jolly time. This year was mellow and a celebration of a different kind.

Since, I didn’t get the opportunity to wear my hat, I digitally recreated it on myself and the bestie.

Dress – Platinum Mall, Bangkok | Earrings – Topshop, London | Clutch – Bliss, Mumbai

Around Christmas eve, I was really craving ice cream. Watching shows on television documenting preparation of some of the best ice creams worldwide might have triggered it. Anyway, since I wasn’t getting any fancy ice cream, I thought I might as well debut these cutesy earrings. They’re just delicious.

Clutch as appears in the photograph on http://blissstore.blogspot.com

I guess the holiday season was just right for me to take my clutch out. I had first spotted it on the Bliss blog. (Click here to view the post) I instantly knew I had to visit this quirky store. Of course, I picked up more than just the clutch. :)

Having tried to pair it with so many outfits earlier, I was overjoyed I was carrying the frilly wonder that day. After splitting a pizza with the BFF, I had to head for a dance rehearsal. My ensemble was quite a conversation piece. ;)

What was on your Christmas wish list? What did you wear on Christmas/ Christmas eve? How do you celebrate Christmas and the holidays?

What do you wear to a yard sale?

I usually like to be in the spirit of things and at first, I didn’t know what I was going to wear to the yard sale. But I managed to put together two different looks.

First outfit

Photograph: Himani Shah

Dress – Zara, London | Earrings – Topshop, London | Shoes – New Look, Croydon

There was a slight nip in the air that day. So, it was a good idea to wear three-quarter sleeves. My bow earrings finally got to make their second outing. Since peep toe boots or shoots are totally in vogue, I could show them off too.

Everyone seems to think the dress is actually two separates. I’ve been asked on several different occasions where my skirt is from. :) I was pretty happy with all the compliments and in the excitement… managed to rip the skirt a little bit. :(

Second outfit

Top – Hand-me-down | Jeans – Infinity, Mumbai | Shoes – H & M, Hong Kong | Chain and locket – Street Soul, Mumbai

On the second day, I was actually wearing a hand-me-down polo neck top. That was keeping in sync with the yard sale.

I must definitely have spoken about my favourite locket earlier. I’m also quite taken with these shoes I bought from H & M during my recent visit to Hong Kong. Co-incidentally, Aniruddha came to the yard sale sporting his Converse t-shirt and shoes.

What do you people think? What would you have worn to a yard sale?

Also, if you haven’t ‘liked’ the facebook page already, do so. You can look at some more pictures and be constantly updated with what’s happening on the blog. :)
