Alice is back! In the news too.

Hello lovely people,

I know I’ve been MIA for a while. But it’s only because I’ve been so busy. Thanks for sticking around.

In fact, I even travelled to Delhi for a friend’s wedding and arrived in Mumbai only this morning. Blog on that coming soon. :)

But before we talk of anything else, I have to share an article on ‘From The Rabbit Hole‘ that appeared in the Sunday Express supplement Eye. I love coming back to good news. :D

My heart is on the line

Alice's new ring

New ring for Alice

At the garage sale, I bought this ring from Aastha I can’t stop wearing. Every time I wear it, I feel like it is an artist’s work that can be interpreted in so many ways. The heart is so obviously Alice and that is perhaps why I’m drawn to it. But I also think

my heart was pierced

my heart is on the line

you cross the line at my heart

when it comes to love, I don’t know where to draw the line

I draw the line at love

I have been feeling very emotional lately and the ring just fits in. It also grabs everyone’s attention. My friend said it was very striking and he couldn’t help notice it. Others wonder what it’s like to wear a ring on two fingers. And one lady enquired if the diamonds were real.

Sometimes when you buy a piece of jewellery, you just have to go with your heart, I guess :) Do you interpret your pieces of jewellery?

Veiled headband – New Look, Brighton, UK | Dress – FCUK, Mumbai | Ring – Bought at garage sale | Shoes – Bangkok, Thailand

I made three trips to FCUK before I picked up this dress. Even then I wasn’t sure. I finally came home and showed it to the sister. She instantly remarked, ‘It’s so Mad Men! You look like Christina Hendricks.’ I was flattered and ready to flaunt my curves. Since the sister and I have been ODing on Mad Men, I channeled a ‘vintage look’ to the garage sale. I love to wear this veiled headband and keep looking for an appropriate occasion. I’m glad I wore it then. I was so happy to receive everyone’s compliments. :D

The sister went vintage too. She’s actually wearing a dress that was once mine. She got it fitted and made it her own. Clearly, she loves hearts too. :*

Last week, post the World Cup celebrations, Aastha and I had our third garage sale. We were in a different venue and Kino 108 was a great host! We were also really excited to have those of you we met over emails and facebook. A huge thanks to all of you who have been writing in. We will plan something soon! I think what was most special was that we now have regulars. Some of you have attended and shopped at all three of our sales! Kisses.

The yard sale!

The yard sale started off with another sighting in the press. It was a huge spread in the Mid Day.
(dated 17th December, 2010) Read it here: Mid Day article online

All our apprehensions and anxiety were put to rest with the response.
We encountered enthusiastic customers, foreign buyers, media persons and it was a whole lot of fun.

You can relive the experience through the pictures:

Rashmi showing accessories

As you already know, me (Dhruvi of Alice Wandering), Aastha (of Indian Summer), Karishma (of Purple Peep Toes) and Samidha (of Street Style) were parting with clothes, shoes, bags and books from our wardrobe. In addition, we had Rashmi (who sells at Azure in Khar) with accessories on display.

Day 1 was quite an adventure. It was a smooth ride though because I had my mum (an experienced fashion designer) and my sister (a pro salesgirl) helping me. We had a sweet couple buying a couple of things from us. The boy, while paying, reminded us that he could avail a 10% discount since he had come with a friend. He even offered to tweet. :) For the record, everyone who came with a friend was entitled to their 10% discount.

Salonee of She Sells

Day 2 had its own highlights. A lady who was picking up stuff for her daughter made many purchases from us. Salonee (of She Sells) made an appearance. :) We had a lot of people offering to sell their old stuff. They were quite impressed with our managerial skills. :) It was definitely encouraging. Aastha and I plan to whip up something soon.

One of our happy shoppers, Anamika was very excited about the clothes she picked up from me. At the yard sale, she shared her enthusiasm with Aastha. She has been kind enough to send me pictures of herself. Check her out in the baby pink tunic.

We obviously wouldn’t have had so much fun if the people at Bliss hadn’t opened up their courtyard to us or been so supportive. Those of you who checked out the store at the yard sale ended up buying so many things from them. They’re just darling. It’s a work in progress but you may just see Alice’s stuff at Bliss in the coming future. Watch this space.
